There has been a significant increase in the number of firearms stolen from Federal firearm licensees (FFL) businesses nationwide when they have been the victim of a burglary or robbery. The Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) Theft/Loss Report for 2017, published by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), cites the number of burglaries of federal firearms licensees (FFLs) has increased by more than 71 percent over past five years. Furthermore, the number of robberies increased by 267 percent over the same period. About 8,129 firearms were stolen from FFLs in burglaries and robberies in 2017. (Source: Firearms Tracing System)
